About the Project

What. Castle Defender is a long-running game prototype that began in a game jam and became a recurring testbed for combat mechanics. Across its iterations it has explored VR bow-and-arrow defense, large-scale troop formation simulation, voice-controlled combat, and strategy-game systems.

Why. The project has been useful as a durable sandbox: each return to it tests a different interaction idea without starting from an empty game. It is especially good for experimenting with physical VR input, command-and-control mechanics, and the feel of defending a space under pressure.

How. The prototype has shifted shape over the years, but the core loop stays centered on defending a castle against incoming threats. Different builds focus on different interaction layers: direct VR archery, higher-level troop direction, voice-command experiments, and larger battlefield simulations.

Core features:

  • VR bow-and-arrow castle defense.
  • Troop formation and combat simulation experiments.
  • Voice-controlled battle interactions.
  • Strategy-game command layers.
  • Iterative game-jam prototype history with many mechanic tests.
